Alan Dye dreamed of being a pro basketball player, but his love of typography and lack of a jumpshot led to his becoming a designer. Alan began his career in New York, working for various advertising and design agencies, including Landor Associates and Ogilvy’s BIG. After many years of agency work, Alan became Design Director for Kate Spade and Jack Spade in February 2004. In December 2007, Alan became Executive Creative Director at Apple, where his team looks after every detail of Apple marketing, globally.
Besides working with Apple, Alan contributes to the “The New York Times,” “Wired,” the NBA, and New York Magazine. Alan’s work has been featured in a number of design shows and publications. Recently, Alan was named by Fast Company as one of 50 designers changing the world. Alan lives in San Francisco and continues to work on his jumpshot.
